Southern Surf

In 2025 Marc prepares the release of a new album “Southern Surf”. The record blends rockabilly, rhythm & blues, classic country, and surf rock influences, offering listeners a fun guitar-driven sound and straightforward songs.

Marc Harris has had a dynamic and multifaceted career, spanning music, technology, and creative production. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Marc began his musical journey in high school, performing at local clubs—a foundational experience that would later propel him into the world of live performance. His early work caught the attention of renowned music journalist Robert K. Oermann of The Tennessean, who described Marc and his bandmate Bob Watkins as “Pop Teen Heartthrobs.” Harris, however, humorously contends that they weren’t heartthrobs but simply dressed loud and proud — it was, after all, the early ’80s

During his college years, Marc crafted a unique schedule, attending school three days a week while hitting the road on weekends with his rock band, Radio One. This band recorded an independent album with the help of producer Brent Maher, known for his work with The Judds, and showcased for labels like A&M and Virgin Records.

After completing his studies, Marc made the pivotal decision to leave the van life behind and hit ‘the road’ on a bus with country artists Lee Roy Parnell (Arista), Stacy Dean Campbell (Columbia), John Berry (Capitol), Victoria Shaw (Warner Bros), and Thrasher Shiver (Asylum). His time on the road saw Marc performing on some of the most prestigious stages, including the Grand Ole Opry and Fillmore West, while opening for country legends. He also made numerous appearances on live network television, and in music videos.

In 1996, Marc was handpicked by famed director Steven Goldman to appear in Shania Twain’s music video for “No One Needs to Know.” In the beginning of the video, Marc and the band performed the song live. While working for John Berry, whose hit “Your Love Amazes Me” topped the charts, Marc had the opportunity to perform live on CBS’s The Road. This session produced the song “You and Only You,” which became CMT’s first-ever official live performance music video.

Marc continued to evolve as an artist, and in the years that followed, his focus shifted to the digital realm. He created Keith Urban’s first website and served as the country music superstar’s webmaster for two years. Marc’s expertise also led to groundbreaking work with DreamWorks Records, where he produced innovative email campaigns and the enhanced media portion of Kenny Rogers’ album There You Go Again. These experiences ultimately led Marc to start his own web design and development business, working in various fields for over two decades to produce media for the web and social platforms.

In 2024, Marc returned to his roots in music, founding VIBEVILLE MUSIC, a music promotion and production company aimed at helping independent artists navigate the industry.

Now living in Destin, Florida, Marc is preparing to release a new solo album Southern Surf in 2025. The record blends rockabilly, rhythm & blues, classic country, and surf rock influences, offering listeners a fun guitar-driven sound and straightforward songs. Today, Marc Harris continues to perform regularly around the southeast, embracing his musical legacy while charting a new path for the future of his career.
